Before you buy a product, or if you already own one, it is worth checking whether it has been recalled. This page points you to the official places to look and explains how we handle safety information.
Where to check
- Product recalls and safety alerts. The government’s Product Safety Alerts, Reports and Recalls page, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, is searchable and can be filtered by product category, risk level and date.
- Vehicles, parts and accessories. The government’s Check if a vehicle, part or accessory has been recalled page links to the official recall checking services.
- Reporting an unsafe product, or checking a seller. Find your local office through Find your local Trading Standards office.
- Help with a faulty purchase. The Citizens Advice consumer service explains what to do when something has gone wrong with a purchase.
If a product you own has been recalled
Read the recall notice. It sets out what the manufacturer or retailer is asking owners to do, such as stop using the product, and whether you can get a refund, repair or replacement. Follow that notice, and contact the manufacturer or retailer if you need help.
How we handle safety information
On our research pages, the “Safety and recalls” section tells you what we found in official sources and the date we checked. A product with no recall notice is not guaranteed to be safe: it means we didn’t find a notice on the date we looked. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use, charging and storage.
Recalls we have noted
We haven’t yet added recall notices to this page. When we do, each entry will show the product, the date, a link to the official notice and the date we checked it.
Tell us about a safety issue
If you know of a recall or safety problem we haven’t covered, please tell us through our Corrections page or email support@trustedproducts.uk.
