How we research smartphones

• Each page summarises the maker’s page and a UK retailer listing, with the date we checked it.
• We search GOV.UK product safety alerts, reports and recalls for the brand and say what we found.
• We have not tested these products ourselves, and we mark anything we could not verify.

What to check on each page

• Display size, storage, battery capacity, how long the maker promises software updates, and the exact UK model code.
• Whether the page names the exact model, because makers sell many variants under one name.
