Spin Speed (rpm)
Spin speed is how fast a washing machine’s drum turns during the spin cycle, measured in revolutions per minute (rpm).

What it means
Bosch’s buying guide defines spin speed as how fast the drum rotates during the spin cycle, and says the higher the spin speed, the drier your clothes are at the end of a programme [1].
Why it matters when you buy
Bosch says a 1,400 or 1,600 rpm machine uses less energy to dry your items afterwards, which matters if you tumble dry [1]. The energy label also shows a spin efficiency class and the spin noise in dB(A), so compare those as well as the rpm figure [2].
How you will see it
Listings give a maximum spin speed, such as 1,200 or 1,400 rpm.
