What it means

Why it matters when you buy

The label’s energy and water figures apply to this programme, so they are a fair way to compare machines but not a forecast of what every wash will use. Smart Energy GB, citing WWF, says washing at lower temperatures can save up to 60% of the energy used to heat water ^[2], so the temperature you choose affects your bill as well as the machine.

How you will see it
