kWh per 100 Cycles
Kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100 cycles is the figure on a washing machine’s energy label that shows how much electricity the machine uses over 100 washes on the Eco 40-60 programme [1].

What it means
Bosch says the label gives weighted energy consumption in kWh per 100 operating cycles, measured on the Eco 40-60 programme [1]. Divide it by 100 to get the energy for one wash. Multiply that by your electricity unit rate to get the cost of a wash.
Why it matters when you buy
It is the most direct way to compare how much two machines will cost to run, because both figures are measured the same way. It covers one programme only, so washes at other settings will use a different amount [1].
A worked example
A label says 50 kWh per 100 cycles. That is 0.5 kWh a wash. At a unit rate of 25p per kWh, a wash costs 12.5p. With 4 washes a week, or 208 a year, the cost is £26.00 a year. A second machine at 70 kWh per 100 cycles uses 0.7 kWh a wash, costs 17.5p a wash and £36.40 a year, which is £10.40 more.
Illustrative scenario: figures are examples, not quotes, valuations or market prices.
