Babies and infants should be carried in a rear-facing seat as it's believed this reduces the risk of injury and even death in a crash by up to 90% as there is greater protection for the baby's head, neck and spine. So, how can you keep an eye on your baby if they are facing backwards, simple, a mirror that you attach to a rear headrest.

So, this is the Munchkin Brica Baby In-Sight Mirror and Munchkin describe it as the following; The shatter-resistant Clear-Sight™ surface gives you and your baby a distortion-free view of each other and the Soft-Touch frame looks great in any car interior. Amid life's hustle and bustle it is always a plus when you can add a little fun and peace of mind to your journey.

At time of writing you can pick it up for around £12 from a range of retailers.

How we tested it:

Well, we've recently had a newborn, so it seems like the perfect opportunity to see what automotive products the baby industry has. So therefore, we've actually been using this mirror for months now in more than 1 car.

We Liked:

• It has a soft frame with stylish stitching meaning it doesn't look out of place in some of the nicest cars. Certainly one of the nicer looking mirrors on the market.
• The wide-angle mirror means you don't have to be too exact when setting it up and also means that the baby can not only see you, but also themselves.
• Compared to others on the market that use a ball joint to adjust this has very little to no vibration, which means you get a crystal clear view of your loved one.
• It should fit on most, if not all, headrests. (if you don't have headrests you're out of luck).
• At £12 it doesn't break the bank.

We Didn't Like:

• The straps can be a little fiddly for off shaped headrests that are smaller than most, but with a bit of tweaking using the built-in wire in the bottom of the strap you eventually get it right.

Overall:

Overall, we really like this product - the main thing is, once it's setup it just works well, no vibration, doesn't slip out position and looks good. If you can't stop looking at your loved one while driving (within reason of course!) then we would certainly recommend this mirror.
